South and east of Martinsville, the land climbs into wooded hills that run toward Morgan-Monroe State Forest. North of town, old farm fields grow up in brush and saplings fast once they’re left alone. Either way, clearing it takes the right equipment and a plan for what happens to the debris.
Alchemy Excavation clears home sites, overgrown lots, fence rows, and trails, and can grade the ground afterward so it’s ready to use. Because we’re engineer-owned, we also think about drainage and erosion before the ground is opened up.
Clear it once, and clear it right.
We get called to clear:
Winter is the best time for most clearing: the ground is firm, the leaves are down, and you can see what you’re working with.
Thick brush, briars, and small trees cut and cleared from lots, fence lines, and field edges.
Trees taken down and stumps pulled where the ground needs to be graded or built on.
Brush and small trees ground into mulch in place, with no burn piles or haul-off.
Root mats and debris removed, the ground smoothed and graded, and seed down so it doesn't wash.
Mulching, full clearing, or a mix, chosen for what you want the land to be when we're done.
Hillside lots open up fast in a storm. We plan clearing so slopes don't wash out.
We mulch or haul debris so you're not left with piles or burning permits to deal with.
We know when clearing needs city or county erosion control review and when state rules apply.
Clearing, grading, driveways, and pads from one crew, so the land is ready for its next use.
Professional clearing gets you:
A clean, graded site saves time on every step that comes after.
We clear brush and land throughout:
From small lots to large acreage.
Small brush jobs rarely need a permit, but bigger clearing can.
Erosion Control – Inside city limits, clearing that disturbs the ground goes through Martinsville Building Services (765-349-4923). In the county, erosion control permits come from the Morgan County Surveyor (765-342-1064). Disturbing an acre or more generally needs IDEM construction stormwater permit coverage too.
Burning Brush – Burning tree and brush debris from clearing for a new home site, private road, or development needs IDEM approval first. Mulching or hauling debris away avoids that step.
Before We Dig – We call Indiana 811 at least two full working days before any excavation.
Small brush clearing usually doesn’t. Clearing that disturbs the ground, like pulling stumps for a home site, can need erosion control review from the city or county, and an acre or more of disturbance generally needs IDEM stormwater coverage. We’ll tell you what applies.
Burning debris from clearing for a new home site, private road, or development needs IDEM approval first. We usually mulch it or haul it away instead.
Winter. The ground is firmer, the leaves are down, and there’s less damage to the soil and the trees you want to keep.
It depends on how thick the growth is, the size of the trees, the terrain, and whether stumps come out. We give a clear written price after a free site visit.
